What is an anchor link?
Anchor links are most often in-page links (or jump links), which send users to another part of the same page.
How to insert an anchor link
- Put your cursor where you would like to add the anchor point by clicking into the text editor at that location. It is better to put the anchor at the beginning of a line or before a heading than at the end.
- Under the Insert menu, click Insert > Insert link > Insert anchor.
- When prompted, enter a unique name for the anchor link. (Important: Only use numbers and letters with no spaces.)
- After you click "Save" you will see an Anchor Flag inidcating you have successfully inserted the named anchor. Note: Anchor Flags are only visible within the editor and do not show up in a preview or on the published page.
- Now, you will highlight the text you wish linked from. Highlight the text and select the chain icon in the ribbon menu bar. Navigate to Link to external site.
- Finally, scroll down to Anchors and choose your recently named anchor link.
