The instructions below assume that you have created a brand new page elsewhere and now you want to replace a live page with all of the new content. Additionally, the instructions below assume that you have also reconfigured your page layout but wish to retain all of the child sections' layouts.
First, remember that T4 uses a parent/child relation to drive inheritable page layouts. Updating the parentat page layout trickles down to all of the child sections.
In this case the old page was Site Specific and the new page is a Site Specific: Landing Page.

New Page View:
The first thing we'll do is crawl through all of the child sections and switch the page layout from Inherited to the primary named layout.
For example, Sponsored Projects Office is the child section of Research. At the moment, it is inheriting the Site Specific Page Layout.
You will need to switch the layout to simply Site Specific without the Inherited variant.
This will ensure that none of the child sections are affected by the change to the parental section layout.
One final note, you can disregard child sections that do not already inherit the parent.
For example Faculty Funding Opportunities was already set to Site Main Full Width.
Next Steps:
Once you've confirmed the child sections will be preserved, the next step is to move all of the content over.
1. On the live page, bulk select everything and delete (inactive) it.
2. Change the page layout to the updated layout.
3. Form the draft page, bulk select all of the content and choose duplicate.
4. Copy it into the live page.
5. Preview and test. At this moment everything should be working in preview. Check for broken links or any page layout issues. Check the child sections for any issues.
6. Does everything looks good? Manually approve the duplicated content and publish the page.
7. Cleanup the section by purging any deleted content and draft sections.
